Doctor faces fraud hearing

A FORMER Boxford GP is set to appear in court accused of fraud offences.

Dr Michael Debenham was due to attend South East Suffolk Magistrates’ Court on Monday for allegedly making money from falsifying prescriptions.

However, the 60-year-old from Priory Road, Hintlesham, did not appear and the case was adjourned.

Debenham, who is the principal of a private practice set up in Hintlesham around a decade ago, is said to have committed fraud by false representation between September 23, 2010, and September 7 last year.

The GP had previously worked for an NHS practice in Hadleigh and set up his own practice in Boxford in 1993.

The case against Debenham was adjourned until October 3.
