Date set for funeral of teen killed in police chase crash
The funeral of a former Sudbury Upper School pupil and father-to-be killed in a car crash in Reading earlier this month will be held next week.
Matthew Seddon, 19, died from multiple injuries on February 11 on the A33 after his red Ford Fiesta collided with the central reservation.
Mr Seddon was being pursued by six police cars, including a dog van and armed response unit, after failing to stop. He was thrown from his car in the collision and hit by at least one vehicle. An investigation into the crash has been launched by the Independent Police Complaints Commission.
Mr Seddon attended Great Cornard Middle School and also Sudbury Upper School for nine months from September 2007.
Sally Scott, vice principal of the school, which is now Ormiston Sudbury Academy, said: “He is remembered by staff as a lively student with a close circle of friends. The staff at Ormiston Sudbury Academy pass on their condolences to Matthew’s family at this very difficult time.”
A Facebook page set up in his memory has attracted more than 1,200 ‘likes’, with posts stating that Mr Seddon’s partner, Bryony De’Morgan, was expecting a child.
The funeral will be held at Three Counties Crematorium in Halstead Road, Braintree, on Tuesday at 11.15am, with a wake at the Prince of Wales pub in Sudbury at 3pm.
