A Sudbury soldier has decided to combine two of her passions to take on a monumental physical and emotional challenge.

Hayley Proudfoot will cycle 270 miles from Sudbury to Conwy Bay in North Wales over three days in aid of The Wildlife Trust.

Hayley, a keen cyclist, likes to keep fit as part of her job as a Lance Corporal in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, based in Wiltshire.

Originally undertaking the task as a personal challenge, she had a change of heart and decided that some good should come from the testing cycle ride, deciding to support a charity she has always admired.

“Growing up in and around Sudbury I always visited trust sites and it is nice to give something back to them,” she said.

“They do such fabulous work to maintain them and it gave me a chance to make sure they continue.”

Although the 31-year-old said she was not nervous, she did say the last day’s ride was a daunting task.

“After two days of cycling for 10 hours per day there will be some big inclines.”

To sponsor Hayley contact the Suffolk Wildlife Trust.
