A retired Royal Navy officer from Great Cornard was the lucky winner of a Christmas competition held by TGA Mobility.

Michael Matthews took delivery of a special hamper just before Christmas.

The competition was open to all customers who visited TGA’s showroom on Woodhall Business Park in Sudbury, with Mr Matthews, 67, chosen at random by retail manager Rachel Elding.

“I was over the moon to hear that I had won, especially as I very rarely win anything,” said Mr Matthews, who was born in Sudbury and served in the Royal Navy for 25 years, working in the Far East, the Mediterranean and the Atlantic.

“It perfectly complemented our festive food and my grandchildren really enjoyed helping out with the sweeter things in the hamper.”

Mr Matthews added that he uses the TGA Superlight and Eclipse mobility scooters and had been impressed by the independence they gave him.

Mrs Elding said she was delighted to present Mr Matthews with his hamper.

“Michael fully deserves this prize for being such a nice individual,” said Mrs Elding.

“He has been one of our valued customers since 2007 and it is great to hear about the freedom he is enjoying.”

TGA specialises in mobility scooters.
