Crime falls in Sudbury

THE number of crimes committed in Sudbury last month was down by more than 50 compared with June last year.

Inspector Paul Crick, from Sudbury Police, told members of the town council that 110 crimes had been recorded in June – a fall of 52 when compared with the 162 crimes committed over the same period last year.

“There is no particular reason for this decline – it is down to a number of initiatives and the continued good work of officers,” said Insp Crick during a meeting at the town hall last Tuesday.

He added that a Pub Watch scheme had been set up in the town and a Sudbury Street Watch group would be launched soon.
