A COW was rescued by firefighters after becoming stuck in the river in Bures.

Fire crews and an animal rescue team were called to help the stricken cow, which had fallen into a river in Nayland Road, at around 1.30pm on Tuesday.

A crane attached to a fire engine was used to rescue the cow, which was placed back into the care of its owner by 3.30pm.
