AN Acton man charged with assault has been given a restraining order.

Shaun Smith, of Cedar Walk, attended Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court last Monday charged with assaulting Gemma Pugh on July 20.

The 25-year-old, who pleaded guilty to the offence at an earlier hearing, was given a two-year restraining order in relation to Miss Pugh, and a 12-month community order.

He was also told to seek help for alcohol problems, fined £100 and ordered to pay court costs of £40.
