Members of Sudbury Talbot Rotary club have presented a cheque for £1,180 to the Free Press in aid of the appeal for paralysed former charity boss Marion Blower.

The money came courtesy of a “pile on the pounds” cake day, held by the club at the town hall last month.

“Everybody had a lot of fun on the day and people gave very generously,” said Val Goodchild, pictured right with Rotary president Valerie Tyrrell and reporter Neil Bracegirdle on Friday.

The appeal for an electric wheelchair for Mrs Blower is now approaching the £6,000 mark.
