A volunteer fundraiser from Clare is to hold his third annual garden to party in aid of local and national charities that helped his wife when she suffered from cancer.
David Wheeldon is holding his third annual garden party in aid of Cancer research UK, St Nicholas Hospice Care and Macmillan Cancer Support, all charities that helped his wife who died of cancer five years ago.
“I lost my wife to cancer in 2009 and the support my wife and I received from the charities was very good,” Mr Wheeldon said. “They were very kind to her.”
The party will be held on August 16, from 2pm to 4pm in the grounds of Mr Wheeldon’s home at Riverbank, Stour Green, Stoke Road, Clare.
Entry is free for all with donations kindly received.
At the event there will be a barbecue, refreshments and homemade cakes on sale as well as a tombola, raffle, book sale and plants stalls.
Darren Couchman, Cancer Research UK’s local fundraising manager, said: “It’s fantastic to have the support of Mr Wheeldon.
“I have my fingers crossed for lovely weather and I know Mr Wheeldon will get lots of support from the local community and it will be another successful event for three very worthy charities.
