Children educated on life’s dangers

SAFETY FIRST: Youngsters learn how to react in hazardous situations.

Children from across 20 different schools attended a safety event to gain an understanding of the dangers of everyday life.

Working across 10 different scenarios, the youngsters learned about fire safety, emergency first aid and drug and alcohol awareness, as well as other life lessons.

Gill Norton, from the Rotary Club of Sudbury, which helped to organise the event, said: “Because it’s action learning and the groups are small, the children can really experience the scenarios in a way impossible in the classroom.

“We are tremendously lucky that volunteers, including the police and the fire brigade, give their time for free.”
