Following a successful archaeological dig in Nayland two years ago, a similar event is taking place next month.
The project will again be run by Dr Carenza Lewis of Cambridge University, formerly of Channel 4’s Time Team, and involves digging test pits in gardens and open spaces. Nayland with Wissington Conservation Society is co-ordinating the digs which will reveal how the village has developed over hundreds of years.
Any objects found will be washed, recorded and analysed. Dr Lewis’s team will provide expert advice and villagers of all ages can take part.
Anyone who would like to be involved in the project on September 20/21 should contact society secretary Andora Carver on 01206 262970 or email email@example.com.
