Car parks set to be run by charitable trust

Car parks in Sudbury, Hadleigh and Lavenham, could be run by a charitable trust under the latest scheme from an action group.

The group, which consists of members from Sudbury and Hadleigh town councils, Lavenham Parish Council, Babergh District Council, Sudbury Chamber of Commerce and Sudbury Market Town Partnership, has been advised by solicitors that this would be the best way of managing the car parks.

The charity itself would be run by a board of four to six members, with separate companies for Sudbury and Hadleigh and would benefit from tax advantages unavailable to other bodies.
