Bus scheme adds to fleet

THE arrival of three new vehicles at a community transport group has opened up the opportunity for the organisation to safeguard its future.

Go START, which provides a range of transport services for people with disabilities, pensioners and schoolchildren in the Sudbury area, recently welcomed a new nine-seat minibus and two smaller five-seater vehicles to its fleet.

The group is offering businesses and organisations the chance to promote themselves on the side of its new vehicles for an agreed fee, with all the money going back into the running of the service.

“We do not want to set a rate for this, but would like to invite interested parties to get in contact and perhaps make us an offer or to discuss an agreement with us,” said John Phillips, the group’s founder.

“It is our long-term aim to become self-sustainable and this is just one more way we can raise money to ensure our survival.

“Of course, this does provide businesses with a way to promote what they do, but that is the least they deserve for supporting such a worthy cause.”

A £100,000 grant from Babergh District Council was used to buy the new vehicles and means the group now has a fleet of five buses to help people get to medical appointments, go shopping or attend school.
