One of the world’s most famous brass bands is to perform in Long Melford to support a charity which cares for the terminally ill.

The Grimethorpe Colliery Band, which featured in the film Brassed Off, will play at Holy Trinity Church on April 12 to raise funds for St Nicholas Hospice Care.

The band will also be running a workshop at the church from 1pm on the same day.

“I urge people to enjoy the workshop or the concert – or both – as money from ticket sales will be going to a very good cause,” said Jordan Hughes, community fundraiser for the hospice.

During the workshop, there will be a chance to learn from the players and ask questions.

The concert starts at 7.30pm, with a percentage of ticket sales going to the charity. Call 0800 140 4678 for tickets.
