Border collie all set for judging duties
DOGGIE JUDGE: Rev Margaret King and husband Graham with three-year-old Morag, who is set to judge a dog fete on Saturday.
GREAT Henny vicar the Rev Margaret King has been busy knitting her border collie dog a wig ... well, she needed some kind of official headgear to pose as a judge for the upcoming fancy dress dog show being planned for the village next Saturday.
Mrs King said: “Obviously my own dog Morag can’t take part in the show, but I have made her a special judge’s wig out of wool that looks like curlers.
“It’s all for a good cause, because we are kicking off our fete this year with a fancy dress dog competition and we’d like to see as many people as possible with their dogs taking part.
“Last year, we raised £2,000 and it went to fix the church organ. This year, we need money to do something about the tower, which is going to cost about £12,000. That’s why this event is so important to the church.”
The fete features a whole range of traditional fete sideshows and stalls, as well as a new game called Henny The Swan in which participants need to guess the number of feathers to win a hamper.
The fete starts with the dog fancy dress competition at noon, and is being held in the grounds of The Henny Swan pub, in Henny Street, and runs until 4pm.
