A call has gone out for volunteers to give up a few hours of their time to help ensure a charity event runs smoothly.
St Nicholas Hospice Care needs volunteer marshals for its Girls Night Out moonlight walk, in Bury St Edmunds on Saturday, September 14 between 7pm and midnight, to help ensure hundreds of women taking part in the annual event get round the course safely.
Jenny Baskett, Hospice Events and Challenges Fundraiser, said: “Volunteering as a marshal is a great way to get involved with Girls Night Out and enjoy the atmosphere of the evening if you do not feel able to complete the walk yourself, or if you are a man.
“Many of our marshals thoroughly enjoy themselves and return to help each year. We already have 60 volunteers this year, but we need at least 50 more.
“We equip our marshals with high-visibility vests, course maps, plasters, torches and flashing bunny ears. All they need to supply is a smile, enthusiasm and the ability to encourage walkers – especially any who might be feeling a little weary near the end – around the route.”
