Be part of something big

MUSICIANS are being called upon to take part in a once-in-a-lifetime event to mark the end of the London Olympics.

Sudbury has been asked to join a national initiative called the Bandstand Marathon, which will see hundreds of outdoor concerts taking place simultaneously to signal the end of the games.

The town’s event will take place in Belle Vue Park on September 9 and musicians of all types are being invited to perform.

“This is Sudbury’s chance to be part of the Olympic legacy,” said Sue Brotherwood, clerk of Sudbury Town Council, which is organising the concert.

“The idea is to bring together all communities and to celebrate our wonderful cultural diversity, which is something we want to mirror here in Sudbury.”

Mrs Brotherwood said the council was looking for bands, choirs, solo artists and groups from all the musical genres.

“Our aim is to make this an event that will live long in the memory of the Sudbury community,” she added.

q Any musicians wishing to take part should contact the town council on 01787 372331 or by email at advice@sudburytowncouncil.co.uk.
