Award means so much to me, says charity volunteer

SURPRISE: Ivy Pound.

SURPRISE: Ivy Pound.

The work of charity shop volunteer Ivy Pound has been recognised.

Mrs Pound, from Canhams Road in Great Cornard, helps out at the Cancer Research UK shop in Sudbury and organises numerous fundraising events.

Since April, Mrs Pound, who retired as a Slimming World consultant in Long Melford 18 months ago, has raised £4,500 for the cause.

This dedication, which included a link-up with Cornard taxi firm Femme Cars, which sees a percentage of its income go to Cancer Research, has not gone unnoticed, with Mrs Pound receiving a special award.

“It means so much to me that my help and effort is really helping,” she said. “I won some awards when I was working, but it was a surprise to get another.”
