Aw shucks! Sudbury gets an oyster bar!
A well-known Sudbury businessman has unveiled plans for an oyster bar in the town.
David Thompson has split Danny's Bar in half – one side will house the new venture, while the other will be home to his movie rental business.
Mr Thompson said: "We still have plenty of bespoke shops in Sudbury and new ones opening all the time. I want to give the town something else to be proud of."
He admitted that he has struggled to run all his family's businesses since the death of son Dan in a car crash.
New leaseholders are being sought for the Movieshop, in Cornard Road. The DVD rental business and film library is due to reopen next to Danny's, in Gainsborough Street, by the end of next month.
The bar – the first of its kind in Sudbury – will be called Danny's Oyster Bar.
The Free Press ran a long campaign in memory of Dan Thompson, raising tens of thousands of pounds towards a new hydrotherapy pool at Hillside Special School.
