HUNDREDS of people descended on Hadleigh on Saturday to enjoy a range of activities put on by St Mary’s Church.

Held in the grounds of the Hadleigh Deanery, the annual fete and fun dog show raised £2,900 towards church funds.

Pauline Thrower, who helped organise the event, said: “Everyone said they had a thoroughly enjoyable afternoon. We had about 500 people come along, and that didn’t include all the children who attended.

“The weather stayed fair which helped bring people out and I think they enjoyed the range of things on offer. All together, it was a successful event.”

As well as stalls selling food, plants and gifts, there was a dog show with prizes for best puppy, best child dog handler, best trick, best rescue dog and best in show.

There was also a chance to visit the bell tower and see the views over Hadleigh.

An exhibition in the church commemorating 350 years of The Book of Common Prayer was also well attended.
