A beer festival to warm the cockles
A WINTER WARMER: John Norton, owner of the White Horse Inn in Edwardstone, tries one of the beers on offer at the pub's festival.
TRADITIONAL winter ales are warming pub goers at an annual beer festival.
The week-long Winter and Old Ale Festival – offering up to 30 cask conditioned beers – started at the White Horse Inn in Edwardstone on Friday.
Now in its sixth year, the event is one of four beer festivals the pub holds every 12 months and focuses on winter brews.
“The beers tend to be darker and stronger at this time of year so the ales at the festival are appropriate for cold winter days,” said owner John Norton.
“During these festivals, we focus on specific types of beers and, as there seems to be a resurgence in people drinking real ales, customers are sampling something they haven’t tried before.”
The festival ends on Sunday.
