30 acts will line up at Festinho

AROUND 30 acts and DJs are lining up to take part in the second Festinho charity music festival at Long Melford.

The event which raises money for Brazilian street children takes place in the grounds of Kentwell Hall from September 4 to 6.

Among those performing will be The Penguin Cafe, Jon Hopkins, The Leisure Society, The Fontanas, Anoushka Lucas, Carnival Collective and Mawkin Causley.

DJ’s include original Big Chill maestro Pete Lawrence, Lindy Layton, Mixmaster Morris and Dr Rubberfunk.

Entertainers Gideon Reeling and Underbling & Vow will be providing fun and games, sing songs and cabaret.

Near neighbours of the festival site will be offered two free tickets per household. Those eligible will receive letters through their doors well in advance.

Weekend tickets for the event cost 45. People who want to camp out at the site will be charged 60.

This year’s festival has teamed up with inspired, the national youth volunteering organisation, to create 150 volunteering opportunities for 18 to 25 year-olds.

Roles include decor, stewarding, and artist liaison, and anyone interested can email helping out@festinho.com for more information.
