A CELEBRATED community group – made up of more than 30 volunteering groups in Sudbury – has received £6,000 in funding.

Hive, which was formed last year, has received the money from The Transforming Suffolk Innovation Fund and Babergh District Council.

The money will help to fund new volunteering opportunities.

Jo Beever, community grants officer at Babergh District Council, said: “Volunteers are so important and the money can be used to give people the skills needed to undertake book-keeping, fundraising, contracting, administration or marketing.”

Despite the recession, Anesta Newson, from Hive, said the organisation could still play an important role in Sudbury.

She said: “Our belief is that by being proactive, positive and innovative, we can continue to support the people of Sudbury.”

q If you are a volunteer, or an organisation that relies on volunteers, you could be eligible for funding or training from Hive.
