UPLANDS Middle School pupils retained their title as penalty shoot-out kings at AFC Sudbury’s MEL Group Stadium in a competition run by ex-Ipswich and England defender Kevin Beattie.
The player Sir Bobby Robson described as the best he ever had, presented winner Jordan Roberts with £300 of sports vouchers after he kept his cool in the sudden death final.
Beattie told the Free Press he was blown away by the standard of penalty kicks from the under-13s, which saw Roberts have to score six consecutive kicks past the All Saints goalkeeper at AFC’s last home match of the season against Needham Market.
It was the second year running Uplands Middle has won the competition, which also featured Stoke-by-Nayland and Clare this year.
The competition was sponsored by Great Waldingfield Garages.
