It is a major success – members of Hadleigh’s Diamond-Lites 32-strong majorette troupe are celebrating their best year in their seven-year history. They have won a number of first-place trophies and medals, according to joint troupe leader Elizabeth Fosker. “The girls have worked really hard this year,” she said.

The group managed to bring home 37 first-place, 21 second-place, 17 third-place and six fourth-place trophies, along with numerous individual trophies, medals and sashes. Their proudest moments were achieving overall troupe of the day at three competitions.

The group has 35 girls aged from three to 20, and are looking for new members. The majorettes train two to three times a week throughout the winter to learn a variety of routines involving batons, poms, flags and maces. For more details, email
