Things are looking bright and sparkly for a new jewellers which has opened in Sudbury.
Contemporary jewellers Stag and Doe opened with a party in the shop, when customers were welcomed with music, drinks and nibbles, and there was face-painting for children.
The new store, in North Street, is the brainchild of jewellery expert Philip Zelley who, for the last 20 years, has worked in the family business, Zelley’s of Bishop’s Stortford, a 100-year-old jewellery and watch company.
Mr Zelley said: “The jewellery trade has had to change in these difficult times and what has happened is that stunningly attractive, quality jewellery is now sourceable from far and wide at very affordable prices.
“We plan to offer a number of top brands that, until now, have not been available in Sudbury.”
He said the shop will concentrate on fashionable jewellery and cater for the affordable, elegant and modern market.
He has been able to use his many contacts in the business to bring to Stag and Doe the best-quality merchandise at the lowest possible price.
Top-brand names will include Ti Sento from Milan, Tresor Paris, Mi Moneda and Fiorelli.
One other notable name will be the award-winning Fei Liu collection. Chinese designer Fei Liu has made the final of the designer of the year contest for three years running, and Stag and Doe will have many of his products on sale.
This is the first new shop Mr Zelley has opened outside of Bishop’s Stortford.
He said he decided to choose Sudbury for the new store because he identified that the area is only covered by old-style jewellers.
Mr Zelley said: “We feel this gives us the opportunity to offer a modern new style of jewellery, providing top-quality trendy brands and exciting fashionable jewellery and watches.”
