A driving instructor from Great Waldingfield has been disqualified for 12 months after drink driving.

Philip Devereux, from Brandeston Close, was involved in a two-car crash in Fordham Road, Bury St Edmunds, on October 5, while a pupil was driving.

When breathalysed by police, the 64-year-old was found to be nearly twice the legal drink-drive limit.

Devereux, an instructor at Great Waldingfield School of Motoring, pleaded guilty to a charge of drink driving at Bury St Edmunds Magistrates’ Court last Tuesday.

He was banned from driving for a year, fined £200 and ordered to pay court costs of £85 and a victim surcharge of £20.
