Ormiston Sudbury Academy proudly handed over a cheque to members of the British Royal Legion on Monday from money raised at its festival of remembrance.

Stuart Hume, chairman of the Sudbury branch of the Royal British Legion, was presented with a cheque for £248 from the event, which included musical and theatrical performances, as well as readings by students, legion members and local residents.

In total, the school raised more than £500, with Year 11 pupils Joe Hinshelwood, 16, and Tom Scroggs-Parris, 15, raising £67 through the sale of poppies. The remainder of the money will go to the Poppy Appeal.
