A LONG Melford butcher has created a spicy barbecue banger to help raise funds for a hospice.

Ruse and Son, of Hall Street, will be giving 20 per cent of all its sales of the new sausage to St Nicholas Hospice Care.

It made the St Nick’s Sausage as part of the Towergate Accumulator Challenge, which sees businesses from across the area fighting it out to turn £50 – donated by event sponsors Towergate Insurance – into as much money as possible for the hospice.

Owner Oliver Ruse said: “Hopefully the St Nick’s Sausage will be a hit with our customers.”

Abby Mayes, hospice corporate fundraiser, said: “If the balmy weather returns, I can see the St Nicks Sausage being a popular choice for barbecues.

“I wish Ruse and Son all the best with the initiative and hope customers support its efforts.”
