SUDBURY is set for miles of smiles as the town hosts its first ever Sport Relief Mile.

Sudbury Sports Centre, in Tudor Road, will stage the event on March 25 to raise money for needy people in the UK and abroad.

Entrants can sign up for routes of one, three or six miles around the sports centre and grounds.

Centre manager Nigel Potter said: “I think it is a great opportunity for the town.

“Everyone will be supporting the charity, through this event and those on television. There’s something for everyone on the day.”

Mr Potter is also seeking volunteers to help the smooth running of Sudbury’s first Sport Relief Mile.

“We are looking for marshals and people to help instruct runners where to go,” he said.

“On the day, there will be food and drinks and a bouncy castle for the youngsters. If anyone wants to come and promote an event for the charity on the day, they are very welcome.”
