A number of properties in Halstead were broken into over the course of two days last week, sparking a police appeal for information.

Police in Halstead are linking a series of burglaries in the town which saw five homes targeted in a single day.

Between 9am and 3.30pm on June 23, five homes were broken in to via rear doors or windows.

In most cases jewellery was stolen from the properties.

The targeted homes were in Tidings Hill, three in Mill Road and The Causeway, though nothing was reported stolen from the Causeway property.

On June 25, a house in Cock Road was also broken in to, again entry was gained via a smashed rear patio door and items were stolen from inside including a camera and jewellery.

Braintree CID is leading the investigations in to the burglaries, and will be examining them to see whether there are any links.

Anyone with information is asked to contact CID on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
