Four community groups from in and around Halstead have won money to improve their facilities and help their community.
Halstead Town Football Club received £4,900 towards a new heating system at the club, Alphamstone Village Hall got £25,000 to carry out a conversion, Little Maplestead church got £21,000 towards an eco-toilet, and Great Maplestead Task Force received £2,200 to maintain the village playing field, grass verges and footpaths.
The money is part of the Mi Community Scheme run by Braintree District Council which gives out grants to organisations for the benefit of the whole community.
Around £130,000 has been given to 11 groups to put into action the plans they have for their communities. A total of 20 projects have benefited from the scheme over the last two years.
Councillor Gabrielle Spray, chairman of the scheme, said: “I’m really looking forward to seeing these inspiring ideas come to life.
“I’m sure each one will demonstrate how communities can work together to improve life for local residents.”
The next round of grants will be launched in September.
