A Sudbury salon owner will saddle up and cycle 100 miles along the testing route used in last year’s Olympics to raise money for the Eden-Rose Coppice next month.

Pete Hender, who owns Studio 56 in Gaol Lane, has entered the Prudential Ride London 100, which will see him power through Surrey and London on August 4.

A member of Boxford Bike Club and a keen cyclist, Mr Hender is raising money for the Sudbury cancer charity run by Rob Brooks. Sponsorship from customers at the salon has already raised £1,100.

“I’ve known Rob for years and I used to do his wife Rose’s hair before she died – I just really wanted to support something local,” he said.

“I was only expecting to raise about £200 and it has all come from my customers, so a big thankyou to them.”

Mr Brooks’ charity offers support for terminally-ill patients and their families.
