Hair-raising talent praised

TWO Sudbury Upper School students have been praised for their skills at a hair and beauty festival.

The students won prizes at the West Suffolk College Festival of Hair and Beauty 2012, held in Bury St Edmunds.

Sixteen-year-old Rhiannon Read won the Diploma Award in a competition called Seasonal Inspirations, and 14-year-old Stacey Mulley took second prize in the Introduction to Hair and Beauty Award.

School spokeswoman Pip Mackay said: “These are exceptional achievements for both students. Rhiannon said she will be going on to do further studies in hair and beauty and eventually hopes to take a business course and run her own salon.”

Hairdressing and beauty therapy students from the school attend the college either one day a week from school, or on a full-time basis or as an apprentice.
