An awareness and fundraising campaign set up by the family of a teenage brain tumour sufferer has had a successful start.

The family of Keira Dixon, of Swan Street, Sible Hedingham, teamed up with opticians Wardale Williams last month to launch the Keira Campaign.

Keira,17, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in February 2014 when worrying signs were spotted during an eye examination.

The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of the importance of having regular eye tests and to raise money for the charity CLIC Sargent, which has been supporting Keira since her diagnosis.

Around £1,600 has already been raised during the campaign, which runs until July.

Keira’s mother Amanda Dixon said: “We want to raise awareness of the importance of having regular eye examinations because if the signs had not been spotted, Keira might not be here now.”
