THE successful completion of six stories over the summer holidays culminated in young readers collecting medals and certificates for their efforts.

A total of 132 children took part in this year’s summer reading challenge at Great Cornard Library.

Youngsters were encouraged to read books featuring stories from around the world and were handed gold medals as prizes from Babergh district councillor Peter Beer.

“It was a fantastic achievement that so many children completed all the books,” said library manager Heather Welch.

“The challenge keeps the children busy over the holidays and they have a lot of fun doing it.”
