THE year is 1959. The venue is Rydell High school and the characters are teenagers navigating their journeys through the adolescent complexities of love, relationships, cars and diners.
More than 150 Sudbury Upper School students took to the stage this week for the school’s annual musical production – and this year Grease was the word.
The production started on Wednesday for three nights and showcased a myriad of talent from all year groups who took part as actors, musicians, dancers, light and sound technicians, scenery and construction designers and costume designers – not forgetting the hard-working production team.
All the well-known and well-loved songs from the classic movie and stage show were featured, including You’re the One That I Want, Grease is the Word, Summer Nights, Hopelessly Devoted to You, Sandy and Greased Lightnin’.
The audiences were whisked back to a time of rock ’n’ roll in the 50s when girls wore pony tails and boys wore Brylcream.
