A DRINKING fountain, more than 100 years old, has been restored in time for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.

The fountain, in Halstead Public Gardens, was built in 1897 to mark 60 years of Queen Victoria’s rule.

It had fallen into disrepair in recent years and needed to be restored to full working order in time for this summer’s Jubilee.

The project cost Halstead Town Council £1,865.
