MEMBERS of a golf club have been thanked for their fundraising efforts over the last year by a charity which cares for people with terminal illnesses.
Golfers at Newton Green Golf Club handed over £1,000 to St Nicholas Hospice Care last week.
Ian Norris, hospice community fundraiser, said: “This is the second large cheque Newton Green Golf Club has presented to St Nicholas Hospice Care in the last 12 months.
“We are incredibly grateful for the support the club gives us and that it always understands how important the work of the hospice is to the local community,”
Paddy Lockwood, the club’s outgoing captain, nominated the hospice as his charity of the year in memory of the club’s late greenkeeper Kelvin Sansum, who spent time at the hospice three years ago.
Kelvin’s widow Caroline was on hand to present the cheque.
