Ormiston Sudbury Academy (OSA) is the first secondary school in South West Suffolk to receive the ‘School Games Gold Mark’, after achieving silver last year.
In just four years the academy has gone from bronze to gold. The School Games Mark rewards schools for commitment to and development of competition, school sport and physical education. The criteria are set by Sport England and the Youth Sports Trust and assess participation, competition, workforce and clubs.
School Games Organiser, Christopher Heath, said: “OSA provides excellent opportunities for students across physical education, school sport and competition.
“A number of highlights include the number of students attending extra-curricular sporting activities after school and during their breaks. OSA has also seen huge success with its leadership academy with around 50 students managing and delivering sports clubs and festivals for local primary school students to attend.”
