SUDBURY Dramatic Society is holding open auditions for its biggest show of the year – a production of The Passion with at least 50 people taking part.
Director Robert Crighton said: “It’s a huge show we’re putting together for Sudbury in the run up to the Olympics.
“We’re holding open auditions in March and are looking for a community company of at least 50 people to make the show into something special.”
Open auditions are being held at The Quay Theatre in Quay Lane, Sudbury, on March 14 at 7.30pm, with audition scripts available from the box office, or on request by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
The Passion tells of the life of Christ and is based on English medieval mystery plays.
Robert added: “Before Shakespeare, there were the mysteries, the first great dramas ever produced in English.
“The original mystery plays were based on stories from the Bible, telling the story of the world from the creation through to doomsday and written to be performed on city streets over the course of a whole day.”
He said the society was looking for a community cast to add their voices to the choir and create “the epic crowd scenes” and no prior acting experience was required.
The Passion takes place at The Quay from July 10 to 14.
