A barber shop is trying to prove itself a cut above the rest by offering customers a massage, or even a beer, with their haircut.
Sam Hearnden, who owns Men’s Den in Hall Street, Long Melford, said the idea behind the move was about encouraging more men to sit and relax, before having a trim.
She said she wanted to provide more than just a traditional short, back and sides, instead offering customers the chance to enjoy a beer after a day at work or a detox and head massage.
“I find a lot of men actually like to be pampered,” said the 30-year-old.
“People work really hard and often guys don’t treat themselves enough. They can come in here, relax and have a beer.”
As well as traditional hair cuts and wet shaves, Men’s Den offers a head and neck massage and detox service with any cut or shave.
It is these little extras, coupled with the added time that is spent on each customer, that Miss Hearnden hopes will make her business stand out against the competition.
“We have tried not to make it an old-fashioned barbers,” she said.
“Some people do like that, but we try to make it more than just a haircut.”
Miss Hearnden added that business had been good since opening the barber shop in June 2013.
