Funeral of stalwart

A TOWN said a sad farewell to a community stalwart last week when the funeral of Iain Chisholm took place at Hadleigh Baptist Church.

Mr Chisholm, 73, had served on the town council and had been a caretaker at Hadleigh Guildhall, as well as a member of the Hadleigh Allotments Society. He had been battling cancer.

Hundreds of mourners turned out for the funeral service to pay their respects. The funeral procession went along Hadleigh High Street.

Mr Chisholm had moved to Hadleigh in the 1970s and worked for a packaging firm on the Lady Lane Industrial Estate.
