A YEAR-LONG fundraising appeal is on course to reach its target.
The campaign, which is aiming to generate £10,000 by the end of March, will donate money raised to the Helping Hands charity, which supports Sudbury Resource Centre and the 60 adults with learning difficulties it cares for.
The £7,000 mark has now been surpassed thanks to a number of recent fundraising events, including a pamper evening and giant book sale held at the centre on the Chilton Industrial Estate and a donation of £250 from Uplands Middle School.
Centre manager Marion Corner said: “We are delighted to have reached the £7,000 mark, which shows the community is still very much supporting the campaign.
“We are now well on course to reach the £10,000 target which will help us to continue to provide a number of services to benefit the entire community from the centre.”
Various organisations, including Sudbury Town Council, The Horse and Groom pub and Sudbury Upper School, have all backed the appeal.
“The support we have received so far is fantastic and proves what a special place Sudbury is,” added Ms Corner.
