A GROUP of film fanatics flexed their creative muscles at Belle Vue House this week as they thought up, captured and edited films and trailers.

Nearly 30 children aged between eight and 19 took part in the workshop, which was organised by Offshoot Films in Great Cornard and part-funded by Suffolk County Council.

The group were given a valuable insight into the whole process of taking an idea from conception to screen, as they wrote their scripts and sourced props on Monday and filmed in locations around Belle Vue Park and Sudbury from Tuesday to today.

Paul Press from Offshoot Films will edit their footage and showcase the work tomorrow, as the children edit the trailers for their creations.

“It teaches them filmmaking skills, how to work together and communicate, as well as team-building,” said Mr Press, who has run the course for four years.

Ollie Moulden, 14, from Bulmer, said: “We are spoofing some classic horror films in ours. I really like filmmaking and have worked with Paul before.”

Offshoot Films is seeking children aged 12 and upwards for a free, three-minute film workshop at The Hub in Belle Vue House in September. Call 01787 370378 for more information.
