Sixty youngsters, aged from seven to 17, make up Theatretrain, which meets on Saturday afternoons from 2pm to 5pm at the Ormiston Sudbury Academy, in Tudor Road, Sudbury.
It is a performance-based company and the Sudbury centre has been running for three-and-a-half years. Pupils have performed in London at The Theatre Royal, Drury Lane and Sadlers Wells, and at the Royal Albert Hall twice. They also put on their own shows.
In February, they will be performing at The Apex in Bury St Edmunds. Pupils have taken part in an advertising video for the new Sudbury Sainsbury’s store. Pupils went to the company’s Colchester store and danced in the shopping aisles, and on an escalator, with a store manager miming to a guitar solo.
The school is particularly proud of 11-year-old Oliver Cotton, from Great Cornard, who auditioned for the role of Zach in the national tour of Goodnight Mr Tom, getting to the last six for the role.
