Members of the Friends of St Peter in Sudbury have been awarded a certificate for the work they undertake in maintaining the building at the heart of the community.

The certificate was handed over by Loyd Grossman, chairman of the Churches Conservation Trust, during a visit to the landmark on Thursday.

“This is such a beautiful church and it is kept alive by the number of events which are held here,” said the former television cookery show host .

St Peter’s, which closed as a church in 1971, attracts around 60,000 visitors every year.
