FRENCH film makers descended on a Clare school to make a film about the concept of free schools in the UK.
The newly-opened Stour Valley Community School, in Cavendish Road, was contacted by the news channel France 24, which last month came to film students in a French lesson.
Stour Valley Community Trust chairman Keith Haisman, who is chairman of Clare Parish Council, was also interviewed.
He said the programme – called Focus – will be broadcast as part of the French news channel reporting on what the free schools are all about. They also filmed another free school in Leicestershire, which offers yoga.
He said: “The piece on the school was not broadcast on Tuesday due to the EU referendum debate. It will now go out on November 7.”
Teacher Emma Rowe said: “It is a French television equivalent of our Panorama programme. It’s about English free schools and means we have truly gone international.
“It will be translated into English, French and Arabic and will be aired in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.”
