The Pharmacy in Hall Street, Long Melford, is offering free health checks to people between the ages of 40 and 74 who do not already suffer from any cardiovascular disease.

The check ups are aimed at giving a prognosis of the chance of patients getting a cardiovascular disease in the next 10 years.

As well as a discussion about the patients’ general lifestyle, there will also be BMI, blood pressure and cholesterol tests.

The free check-ups are being rolled out at various pharmacies as part of an NHS scheme. Currently offered by GPs, the tests are very popular and GPs are often overwhelmed.

The aim is to help patients prevent these illnesses.

The check-ups are available Monday to Friday with no booking required.
