A Sudbury opticians is offering free eye tests and retinal imaging in support of an international awareness raising campaign.

World Sight Day is being organised by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness.

Being held on Thursday, October 13, it sees the promotion of eye health across the world.

In support of the event Sudbury opticians Wardale Williams is offering free eye tests for the entire day.

It will also be offering retinal imagery, a sophisticated process that allows optometrists to take a detailed look at the back of the eye for any signs of potential issues.

Amanda Skinner, practice manager at Wardale Williams, said: “As responsible healthcare practitioners we are big supporters of World Sight Day and feel it is only correct to take part.

“This is a very important initiative, approximately 285 million people in the world live with low vision and blindness, yet 80 per cent of visual impairment is avoidable.

“This is why we have decided to offer the free tests and we hope local people will take up this opportunity.”

Anyone wanting to take advantage of the offer should call the Gainsborough practice to pre-book an appointment on 01787 372492.
